Bouldering at the Boiler Room
The bouldering caves provide a great place for warming up or working out
without a rope. The outside walls of the caves provide vertical wall bouldering
and traversing. The inside provides more of a challenge with overhanging
walls, and roof surfaces. The floor of the caves is covered by a thick soft
foam mat. |
History of the Boiler Room
The Boiler Room, as the name suggests, once housed the heating plant for a Woolen Mill located on the west bank of the Cataraqui river. With the mill long gone, the building has become home to many local businesses, including the Boiler Room Climbing Gym. Under the guidance of engineering genius and all around great guy, Ian Kilborn, the space has been transformed into a state of the art indoor climbing facility. Some of the historical flavor of the Boiler Room has been preserved not only in the name of the gym, but in its construction as well.
